Live blogging Eurobasket 2011: Spain vs. Great Britain

BallinEurope is live from Panevezys again today for more EuroBasket action, beginning with Spain vs. Great Britain. As the Brits continue to chase that elusive first-ever major tournament win, Spain seeks to continue its stomping through Group A. After two games, the powers of the group — Spain, Turkey, and Lithuania — all sit on top at 2-0. The heavily-favored defending champions look to be in first going into the off-day on Saturday … they best not be looking ahead, though.

Join the live blogging here, just below the break. Enjoy the game!

Live blogging Eurobasket 2011: Lithuania vs. Poland

All right, the home team hits the court again tonight in Panevezys, presumably in hopes of improving on a somewhat inconsistent opening game against Great Britain; with Spain and Turkey performing as expected to go 2-0, Team Lithuania will need a W to keep up.

Note for the game: Marijonas Petravicius will not be playing tonight due to an unspecified minor injury. Could this mean some time for prospective Toronto Raptor Jonas Valanciunas, who only saw four minutes of action last night…? Find out soon and follow the BallinEurope live blogging below the break. Enjoy!

Live blogging Eurobasket 2011: Turkey vs. Great Britain

This one will probably be closer than most folks think, if only because Great Britain tends to produce a great second-half run to make things interesting. Can they close? No. But they’ll make some highlight clips. Meanwhile, BiE is just stoked about seeing Enes Kanter, always great to see. Follow the action with BallinEurope live blogging from Panevezys below the break and enjoy the game!

Live blogging Eurobasket 2011: Great Britain vs. Lithuania

So, what to look for in this game? BallinEurope sat in one some of the Great Britain practice session today and must say the team looked pretty loose, but will imperviousness to pressure be enough? After all, the specter of the missing Ben Gordon (and, as Ogo Adegboye pointed out to BiE yesterday, Pops Mensah-Bonsu) is certain to haunt everything Britain does — or doesn’t — achieve in this tournament.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see what the frontcourt-heavy Team Lithuania does against a team which doesn’t truly match up with big men like a Spain or Turkey. The home side brings an incredible five bigs (Paulius Jankunas, Ksistof Lavrinovic, Marijonas Petravicius, Jonas Valanciunas, Robertas Javtokas) and just two true forwards (Darius Songaila, Simas Jasaitis) to the tournament, which should create some interesting rotations to say the least. One thing is for certain: A packed, heavily partisan house. Click below the break to follow the live blogging and enjoy the game!

Live blogging Eurobasket 2011: Spain vs. Poland

EuroBasket 2011 tips off in Panevezys with the Spain vs. Poland game. The defending champions are bringing years of experience in Euroleague and NBA stars — among them the Gasol Brothers, Juan Carlos Navarro, Ricky Rubio, Rudy Fernandez and Felipe Reyes — while relatively unheralded Team Poland hopes to compete without Marcin Gortat.

BallinEurope will be checking in to update on the action throughout the match, so click below the break, stay right here and refresh often! Happy Eurobasket, all!
