Jérome Moiso: "Just take Turiaf or Petro"

Jérome Moiso has for a long time been considered as one of the biggest Center talents in Europe. After his nice career with UCLA, he got selected in the NBA Draft with a a lottery pick. But his career never really started off until this season.

So the talks were coming back to bring back Moiso to the French National Team where he was a Persona non grata for a long time now. Especially, with all the absences that Michel Gomez has to fear for September. Because not only the NBAers will not be there, apparently also Jumping Flo Pietrus will miss the qualification phase.

So of course, Jérome Moiso was an option again, especially with his recent performances for Joventut where he feels like back in UCLA. For the first time ever, he feels understood by the coach and the coach Aito also knows how to use the enigmatic character of Moiso. And Jerome is happy.

And now, the French newspaper l’Equipe went for the no-go question and asked the former Celtic, Hornet and Raptor if he will come back to the National team. Well Jérome was not so amused about this and came up with a very clear answer.

Les Bleus? I knew that you will ask this question. If you really want to know, I don’t want to come back. The coach just has to take Turiaf or somebody else, like Petro. Additionally, he (Petro) is bigger than myself. The truth is, I have no envy anymore to play, that’s it…

So the French team is running out of options inside as Turiaf will probably be in contract negotiations with the Lakers while Johan Petro’s agent wants him to stay with the Sonics over the Summer. And Fred Weis is still Fred Weis with one year more. So who do you want to take? Alexis Ajinca? Or will we see Vinnie Bang-Bang Masingue putting some elbows again with the blue jersey? Well I hope so for France…

    The choice of Michel Gomez, as the new head of the national team was supposed to attract players……France has nice players but the most pityfull federation.
    It was a smart move to go with a 80’s coach ! !! !
    Just imagine to go to a 2008 party with your someCD’s of Duran Duran : you will be really successfull.

    Nice vid ! I didnt know Jerome Le Banner plays also basketball !
    Regarding Moiso, he should have hoped that Guadeloupe and Martinique field own national teams like in football , so he can play for them.I bet they would have a pretty good team and France’s quality would go down the drain…

    Well, with gus like Masingue you’ll go deeper in a tournament than with these “super talents” like Petro.
