Stephon Marbury to Italy? But not in Milano!
August 15, 2008 by Christophe
The latest rumors around the net were talking about the possibility of Stephon Marbury signing in Milan. But it looked more like a wish of the NBA Free Agent than a real possibility.
Because officially, Armani Jeans Milano has already completed its roster for the upcoming season and the foreigner spots are taken too. So for Coney Island Finest, he won’t earn his money in Milan this season as we got confirmed by a member of the AJ Milano management.
In any way, Marbury may have struggled in the Euroleague because of the difference in playing style with the top level PGs, the fact of seeing him play against Brandon Jennings in the Italian League would have been a big thing for US basketball fans. However, the fact that Milano is not going to sign him does not mean that Marbury won’t play in Italy.
Because his wish to play in the country of Dolce Vita is really there.
Why wouldn’t you want to play basketball, still make money and live in a place that’s beautiful,” Marbury added. “Milan is definitely where I want to play basketball at. That’s where I fell in love with Italy.”
So even if it won’t be Milan, the chances to see him in Europe are still alive.

Take him! He is all yours.
I really hope he does end up in Europe. Marbury is terrible and represents all that is wrong with the NBA.
Just an awful player.
What is this guy talking about! I am a New Yorker born and raised and just happen to live in Milan now. Marbury had a tough time these last few seasons in NY, and when you are loosing things are said and done that under normal above .500 circumstances wouldn’t happen. Marbury is a solid, tough point guard and with the right team he will be just fine. With that said as much as I would love to see him here in Milan or Italy I think he still has some things to accomplish in the NBA maybe three years from now he should look at Europe.
