Situation with kalnietis is very strange.. First Benetton announced that they signet Kalnietis. Then news came that they actually signed him in the middle of the season. And it seemed to be true, because press, basketball websites wrote that all Zalgiris players (except youngsters) became FA in the middle of the season, coz of those financial problems. Then Zalgiris tryed to loan kalnietis, but unsuccesfully. But now they announced oficially that Kalnietis is staying. Zalgiris GM said that they have all documents that proves that Kalnietis is still Zalgiris player atleast for one more season, and that Kalnietis actually didn’t became free agent in the middle of the season. But then Kalnietis agent Cappicioni, whos Italian, said that Kalnietis has contract just with Benetton. It sounded rather strange that he said that so clearly, because Kalnieetis by himself would like to stay in Zalgiris (mostly because of personal problem in his family…), so I think agent should yrye to help him to play in Zalgiris instead of saying that he will play in Benetton. But maby it’s because Benetton is Italian team, as Cappicioni is Italina. Or maby benetton offers more money, so agent could earn more as well. And it seems that Zalgiris sent those documents about Kalnietis contract to Benetton, but it seems unlikely thta Benetton will give up Kalnietis easily, so probably FIBA will make a final decision in this history.
