A Euroleague game without internet connection

November 29, 2007 by Julien

Yeah my Fujitsu Siemens kinda let me down this evening and Christophe had to do all the blogging by himself. During that time, I was the one walking around and fetching the San Miguel Lights.

9,150 came to watch Lietuvos Rytas, including 11 Lithuanian fans who were very cross after the game. As one of my new Lithuanian friends (of whom I’ll post a very nice picture as soon as I can) told me, Malaga officers told them to stay on their seats during the whole game otherwise they threatened to call the police. They even had to remove part of their banners at times…

So 9,139 were left whistling various times during the game like when Carlos Jimenez got a technical foul for faking an offensive foul for the second time in a row. The stands got mad and Malaga fans took tissues out of their pockets to show the refs they wanted them out of the game.

Those Malaga fans were really something like this guy playing the drums just besides the Rytas bench during a time-out. Suddenly it seemed like the 9,138 others were clapping their hands as hard as they could so that Coach Trifunovic couldn’t talk to his players. Malaga fans also showed a lot of heart when the “I will survive” song started. They all waived their “Unicaja” notice at the same time and the stands started looking like an anthill.

We met probably one of the biggest Malaga fans later on in the official Malaga bar. She’s called Mari Pepe if my memory is correct and Christophe and her became good friends as I will prove soon with the photos I took during the night.

It wasn’t a great game as Sergio Scariolo seemed to pretend on Euroleague.net. But it was a close game. And Chuck Eidson almost became a hero with this tough contested shot he made tying the game with 8 seconds to go. But then Hollis Price played bad defense on Carlos Cabezas. And the local hero made the winning lay-up with 2 seconds to go.

I hope tomorrow’s game between Real and Roanne will be as close but to be honest, I wouldn’t bet on it. I hope my laptop starts feeling better otherwise I’ll keep on letting the others do all the work. Seems like they do just fine if I look at this and this.

Greetings from Spain.
