Euroleague Fantasy Challenge : Tips of the week
December 19, 2007 by Julien
Hurry up guys, only 4 hours to go !
- As usual, let’s start by looking at the injury list. The Euroleague website usually does a decent job at warning who’s gonna play or not. Here is the link. There’s a couple of things you need to know :
- Igor Rakocevic will not play tomorrow because of a leg injury. I expect Spahija to play a backcourt of Prigioni and Planinic for most of the game. Those 2 might be a pair of sleepers for your Fantasy Team.
- Delonte Holland and Federico Lestini will miss next game for disciplinary reasons and are not expected to come back anytime soon. They should be cut in the upcoming days. Even more touches for Spencer ?
- Jeremiah Massey might play against Le Mans BUT he’s dealing with an ankle injury and had to skip practice on Monday…
- Mindaugas Lukauskis - who was one of the best surprises of the Fantasy Challenge earlier in the season - is said to be questionable for tomorrow’s game in Tel-Aviv. More PT for Jomantas and perhaps Gecevicius should be the top option.
- Erden and Kutluay are expected to miss the game against Barcelona. Savas and newcomer Asik should enjoy the increasing minutes. Same goes to Omer Onan instead of Ibo Kutluay.
- Second thing you have to do is check the Euroleague Fantasy tool from Hooppstats. I sorted the stats by “score to win the max” so you know who are the sure bets.
To name a few, you should keep an eye on :
- Goran Dragic (Olimpija) who needs -14.6 Fantasy points to bring you 4.9 additional credits.
- Nicolas Batum (Le Mans) needs 1.7 pts for 4.6 credits.
- David Bluthenthal (Maccabi) needs 1.9 pts for 4.3credits.
- Marcus Fizer (Maccabi) needs 4.6 pts for 4.2 credits.
- Marc-Antoine Pellin (Roanne) needs 9 pts for 5.5 credits.
- You should also pay attention to the schedule to track the potential good match-ups or the easy predictable wins.
For instance, Prokom and Virtus Bologna both look like a mess right now. They’re both playing at home but I expect Zalgiris and Tau Vitoria (respectively) to go get the W anyway. Panathinaikos will play on the road, but against a very weak German team. They need to win to get back on track and I expect them to win by a huge margin.
Here are the 3 moves I did this week :
OUT
Lakovic (Barcelona)
McIntyre (Siena)
Rush (Roanne)
IN
Diamantidis (Panathinaikos)
Penn (Efes)
Macijauskas (Olympiacos)

Here are my moves
OUT: JR Holden, Carlos Cabezas, Ksystof Lavrinovic
IN: Goran Dragic, Sarunas Jasikevicius, Marcus Haislip
OUT: Spanoulis, Watson, Velickovic
IN: Brown, Anderson, Bradley
In : Batum, Kalnietis, Andersen
Out : Rush, Halperin, Koffi
Out: Dragic, Petravicius, Salyers
In: Planinic, Jackson, Pekovic
I ‘m not sure at all about Pekovic for Salyers, I did the exact opposite transfer last week and it worked. But changing them again was my original plan, so I ‘m sticking to it - it’s also kind of symmetrical, and I like it
… We ‘ll see ….
Penn is in.. You havin’ a laugh?
OUT: Siskauskas, Popovic, Petravicius
IN: Papaloukas, Langdon, Pekovic
Kerem, who’s laughing now ?
121.4pts and 3 players in action left for tomorrow. Looks ok for me but I wont break the 200 again I guess. Still 3 big names in the race tomorrow with Reyes, Haislip and Massey
Julien - good moves! ..
I ‘m at 142 and waiting for Planinic, Lakovic and Massey …
Now, if only Langdon could do better
…
Wait Penn didn’t play that good yesterday.. What was his efficiency rating?
21.. Yuck!
Lucky call mate.. I just discovered Gallinari by the way but he needs to improve his ball handling and overall quickness for the NBA..
