The What if Interview : Danilo Gallinari (Milano, Italy)

October 18, 2007 by Julien

The What if Interview makes you know what your favorite players would look like if they played a different position on the basketball court or in the basketball world.

If you still haven’t heard anything from Danilo Gallinari, it probably means you spent the last 12 months in a coma or writing a thesis. At age 19, the next Italian sensation is already everywhere to be seen : magazine covers, NBA mock drafts and Youtube videos. I had a little chat with Danilo 2 days ago. Here is how he dealt with the What If Interview…

What if you were a playmaker ?

I would be the kind of point guard who never shoots, who just keeps on passing the ball. I would look like Jasikevicius. He’s not passing the rock all the time but it’s hard to make comparisions since there just aren’t any playmakers who never take a shot nowadays.

What if you were a head coach ?

I’d be a friendly one, like a player’s coach, one who gets on well with his troops. I’d like to play for Ettore Messina some day. And regarding the type of game I’d play, we would run and gun !

What if you were a simple fan ?

I’d be the head of the ultras, this kind of mad fans. (laughs)

What if you were a journalist ?

I think I’d be the one who always asks tricky questions, type of ones that put players on a tight spot. (more laughs)
