Stanko Barac : Lost in Translation

October 16, 2007

With that kind of title, you would think Stanko is the luckiest guy in the world and he’s dating Lost in Translation star actress and 2006 FHM sexiest woman in the world Scarlett Johansson. But he’s not. He’s just a guy who’s changing address more often than a substitute teacher.

Life was quiet for Stanko Barac until this summer. At least quiet for a skilled 2.17m center. But a very successful 2k7 campaign with Bosnian champs Siroki Prima changed it all. He was soon drafted by the Heat with their 39th pick then traded to Indiana for a future second-round pick. A few months later, Basque Country powerhouse Tau Vitoria inked him for the next 5 years but rumors said he would soon be loaned. The Bosnian native was then called up by Croatian NT head coach Jasmin Repesa for the European Championships. He made the cut and played a bigger role as time went by. After his good outings with Croatia, some thought Stanko might remain in Vitoria, especially after James Singleton blew up his knee. But then again Vitoria signed Linton Johnson and Will McDonald admitted his marriage and his Spanish passport were a joke.

One day Barac was supposed to fly back to the Balkans, in Slovenia. The other, he was bound to join his Croatian NT head coach in Rome, Italy. But it was announced yesterday that Barac would play the remainder of the season in Valencia where several big men are battling injuries. Now the young big man can finally unpack his things and settle down in Valencia. Before he moves out again next summer… Is it just me or Barac’s bio is better than a geography book ?
