Okay, here’s your rumor du jour to get things started on this Wednesday morning: According to sources quoted at ESPN.com, Deron Williams’ Beşiktaş Milangaz is actively pursuing the Los Angeles Lakers’ Lamar Odom to join the Eurochallenge side while the NBA player lockout continues.
“Odom turned 32 earlier this month and is considering whether to accept the proposal,” states the ESPN article, which also informs that Beşiktaş officials had been chasing the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Kevin Love and the Chicago Bulls’ Luol Deng. Love formally declined an offer on the weekend, telling media that “I didn’t feel it was the right decision for me at this time.”
Beşiktaş is reportedly also looking into signing free agent Nene or Team Poland/Phoenix Suns big man Marcin Gortat; Gortat is described as “highly interested” in getting with the Turkish team.
But if Odom signs up? BiE’s already imagining the reality TV program…

In all seriousness, I’d say Khloe Kardashian would spike a move to Turkey. They’d need to offer him more coin than D-Will is getting to make it worth the hassle to him and I don’t see that happening.

Ummm..Odom has won two nba championships and FIBA gold while Spanoulis couldn’t make it in the NBA and has only won FIBA silver. Olympiacos is only at .500 so he needs Odom to come and take over the team.

Spanoulis is like 10 times better player than Odom.
The same Spaboulis who couldn’t get off the bench in the NBA? The same Spanoulis who led his team to an 11th place finish in the last world championship? The same Spanoulis who’s team is at ,500 this year and couldn’t even make the final four last year in Euroleague. The same Spanoulis who has never won gold in the Olympics or World Championships? Okay, just checking…
The same Spanoulis that is far better than Odom.
Basketball is a team game. Anyone can score on the bad teams that Spanoulis is on. Right now his team is at .500 in a second tier league. In the World Championship his team was 11th place. 11th place is where teams like New Zealand and France without Tony Parker are, not a team with any player which can be called “good”. No one in the NBA has even heard of Spanoulis, and those who have now he is a joke. A crybaby who thought because he was a star in Euroleague he was entitled to play with the big boys in the NBA.
My favorite quote is when he told Van Gundy “‘I was [Tracy] McGrady back home.” and Van Gundy replied “Great. McGrady is McGrady here,”
Van Gundy also said about Spanoulis: “I feel badly for him. He feels he was misled. Frankly, he’s been his own worst enemy in many ways. Some of it is excuses. His turnovers have been high; his fouls have been high; his shooting percentage has been low. I would rather anybody start out with self-evaluation — what can I do better? — versus lash out and blame. Because I’m not playing him now doesn’t mean he won’t play in the future or we don’t feel he could be a good player. I think he’s allowed his disappointment to go to discouragement, which has, at times, stunted his improvement. We’ll see. We’ll see.”
