The French NT is still looking for a National Team coach. Several European top coaches have been contacted or at least announced as contacted in the French press, and the main favorite seemed to be Vincent Collet, current ASVEL Villeurbanne coach. However, Basketnews.net announces a new name now that seems to be in the race: Larry Brown.
Brown, who is currently head coach of the Charlotte Bobcats, has won more than 1000 games in the NBA and may be the solution that will bring the French NT to the level on which so many people think they should be. The link between Larry Brown and France seems not to be taken out of nothing like this, as he currently has both Boris Diaw and Alexis Ajinca in his Bobcats roster.
The French Federation, however, did not confirm nor deny this information. President Mainini told Basketnews that he is not capable of confirming anything and that, for the moment, there would be no comment. The date of March 4th has been fixed for the head coach announcement, and the Bobcats’ schedule would allow Brown to be at least present on that date via video conferencing, as the Bobcats play home games on March 3rd and March 6th.

Just the headline makes me sick and think of the Knicks, Marbury and poor galinari …
Regarding to my insider, not a chance. This is just a lousy gossip…
As an NBA fanatic, I still have a devout appreciation for the international game and appreciate its development the past few years. More and more clubs are luring American players and introducing them to their unique brand of basketball and different lifestyle.
Although the Larry Brown move probably will not happen, it would be interesting to see how he would adjust his coaching style to accommodate a much different style of play. We have seen how many U.S. players have fared when they brought their game overseas. How would a high profile NBA coach adjust his coaching style to provide the best guidance for his players?
Hopefully we will see in the near future.
It seems Larry brown will be the “technical adviser” of Vincent Collet. He will not sit courtside but give his opinion http://www.sportweek.fr/sports/basket/0/larry-brown-avec-bleus-62190.html?xtor=RSS-79 (french)
French Basketball Federation president Mainini said he would be a bridge to the french NBA players (Parker, Diaw, Turiaf, Pietrus…)
