From the Twittosphere – SO to Monilogue and Tumblr poster F***YeahTimberwolves – BallinEurope passes on this sad tale of an egregious oversight on the part of a Minnesota-based newspaper with regard to BiE fave Ricky Rubio. It what is certainly a shoo-in for the Letter To The Editor of 2013, any category, reader David Holmes of Minnetonka sticks up for La Pistola; let’s hope such an infraction of sports journalism ethics doesn’t happen again…

Rubio’s recovery from his injury has been slow. He had a couple of okay games, but he’s not the impact player that he was last year. It really seemed to me last year that he could be someone special, but today, not so much. I hope it’s just because of the injury, and not because he’s been figured out by the league.
I saw his game last night against the Clippers. He wasn’t impressive offensively or defensively, but he was just okay in another Minny loss. The coaches are telling him to think scoring more to keep defenses honest, but that is not his natural game. It is also possible that all the Minny injuries have put a dampened spirit on the team as Minny is on a downward spiral. Even Kiri is no longer playing well and has regressed to closer to his Utah Jazz play.
Sometimes you can burst into the scene playing spectacular, and then, when you play teams a 2nd round, your moves are figured out, and you’re no longer special. For Rubio’s sake, let’s hope it’s just the injury.
Playing against a tired Hornets team, Rubio finally showed some of the flash and impact he very promisingly showed last year. In 23 min. , Rubio shot 3-5 with 9 points, 7 assists, 1 turnover, and 1 steal. Beyond the stats though, he impacted the game playing good defense drawing a couple of charges, and actually had a highlight type flashy assist.
Maybe Os can show that highlight assist here on this site.
