VTB United League final four tips off tonight; also, how to watch

January 21, 2010
How will he look in red?

How will he look in red?

The VTB United League’s inaugural season draws to a close today and tomorrow with its Final Four round. The all-Russian semifinal game represents potential Euroleague semifinals preview – hey, it does say “potential” – and yet another chapter in the burgeoning CSKA Moscow-BC Khimki rivalry.

Over at the league’s official site, CSKA coach Eugeniy Pashutin acknowledged the increasing fierceness of the Russian Super League/VTB/Euroleague battles between the teams. Pashutin also promises to go with a big lineup against Khimki featuring new acquisition Pops Mensah-Bonsu and points out that his Red Army is “going to play four Euroleague-level matches in eight days and each of them is important in its [own] way.”

In the other game, it’s site hosts Zalgiris Kaunas against Unics Kazan and how relieved are tournament organizers to have avoided an all-Russian final to be played in Kaunas? Probably nearly as gleeful as Unics head coach Valdemaras Homicius, who enthuses that “You can’t imagine how it is pleasant to return home. I’ve got a great chance to meet family and friends. It’s not a secret that I was born in Lithuania, was grown up there, and Kaunas gave me a chance to fulfill myself in life.”

As for actually watching the games anywhere, well, information is scant. If anyone can provide information on where/what stations these games may be shown, please do.

For free IPTV streaming possibilities, this Russian-based ‘site seems to be the sole legitimate place to watch via computer – but use at your own risk. Here are the direct links for the CSKA-Khimki game and the Zalgiris-Unics game. You may need to download software or you may already have the required program; consult the help page before using the site.
