Bonjour TP! Parker back with Team France

August 21, 2008

Today, the French basketball federation announced some very surprising news: Tony Parker will play for Team France during the Eurobasket 2009 qualifications. But let’s start from the beginning.

Because of some logistical issues, my girlfriend is currently using my PC. So when I wanted to check my email this morning, I saw this amazing news on my screen, as she forgot to quit Firefox. While the authors of that site asked themselves some questions about her belly, I was more like: Is Tony Parker getting Boris Diaw Syndrome, i.e. getting fat? Has he nothing else to do this summer than go to restaurants while his national team is getting beat by Finland?

Well, I forgot all this, but when I came back home this afternoon and I saw the following news: Tony Parker joined the French National Team in Paris to prepare for upcoming games against Belgium, Ukraine and Turkey. The guy that was going out for dinner yesterday with Eva Longoria was this morning in Paris working out. Wow. Did Eva told him to lose some weight? The official version of the story was announced through Tony’s official website:

To watch the Olympic Games on TV was not easy for me. I wanted to be there, I wanted to represent my country. Seeing all these French athletes wearing our colors and not being among them hurt me. So the only thing I could do is join our national team as quickly as possible to play the qualifiers in September.

Well, Tony, next time, you better think about the Olympic Games when you’re shooting the decisive free throws in Spain. And now, with only 10 days to go in the preparation phase, it’s quite easy to join the French national team, as you barely need to practice anymore and only go for the games. Life is so easy when you know that your team needs you.
