Ireland’s MVP, Under 23, and Coach of the year awards announced

The winners of the top individual prizes in Irish basketball have been announced, Emmet Ryan runs through the six big winners from the 2013/14 season.

Men's Premier League Player of the Year Michael Bonaparte (Killester) — at National Basketball Arena, Tallaght.
The men’s premier league MVP award went to Michael Bonaparte of league champions Killester. Bonaparte played a big role in Killester reeling in UCC Demons down the back-end of the season to take the title.

Men's Premier League Coach of the Year Jonathan Grennell (Killester) — at National Basketball Arena, Tallaght.
It was double joy for the league champions as Jonathan Grennell secured the coach of the year title for Killester BC.

Despite having a rough return to the top flight in Ireland this past season, Belfast Star have promise for the future after Paul Dick took the men’s Under 23 award.

Women’s Premier League Player of the Year Grainne Dwyer (Team Montenotte Hotel) — at National Basketball Arena, Tallaght.
Grainne Dwyer of Team Montenotte Hotel added the women’s premier league MVP award to her successes with the Glanmire club in the cup and playoffs this season.

Women’s Premier League Coach of the Year Paul Kelleher (Team Montenotte Hotel) — at National Basketball Arena, Tallaght.
Joining Dwyer on the winners rostrum was Paul Kelleher who took the coach of the year award for the women’s premier league.

Women's Premier League U23 Player of the Year Aoife McDermott (UL Huskies) — with Aoife Mc Dermott at National Basketball Arena, Tallaght.
Finally the women’s Under 23 award went to Aoife McDermott of league champions UL Huskies.
