I am talking about the Ress family. If you like men’s basketball you probably know Tomas Ress. If you are into women’s basketball you probably know Kathrin Ress. Even if you are not from Italy you might know them. They both grew up in Salorno, Italy, but played high school and college basketball in the US.
While Kathrin went to Boston College and helped lead the Eagles to three NCAA tournament bids and got drafted by the Minnesota Lynx in 2007, Tomas went to Texas A&M where he is holding a very interesting record: the largest shoe worn by an A&M player in recorded histor – a shoes size 18.
Kathrin just finished playing for the Italian national team where she averaged 8.3 points and 6.7 rebounds. She will join Euro Cup team Schio in Italy now.
Brother Tomas was on the national team for Italy the past years but did not play this summer in Spain. He will join Montepaschi Siena this season and compete in the Euroleague with Siena.
I guess Gervasio and Margareth Ress’ genes must have been perfect to develop these two outstanding basketball stars from Italy..
