The best of times, the worst of times: Olympiacos YouTuber flashes back

April 25, 2010

Some people may be having a little trouble dealing with the anticipation in the leadup to the Euroleague Final Four. YouTube poster Bosiopan, a fan of Olympiacos – yeah, like those guys don’t have enough to worry about, standing as they are just 1/2 game up on Panathinaikos on the ESAKE table as well with two weeks left in the regular season – recalls a pair of Olympiacos appearances in the Euroleague finals.

Bosiopan’s first of the twin clips is from 1994, described as “Joventut Badalona crowned Euroleague Champion. The worst moment [in] Olympiakos Basketball Club history…”

In 1997, however, Olympiacos managed to break through to take the European championship by crushing Real Madrid, 73-58. This remains the sole Olympiacos continental title, a fact made more painful by cross-country rival PAO’s five trophies.

As Bosiopan puts its, the 1997 Euroleague Final was “The biggest day in Olympiakos Basketball Club history. The biggest day so far…”

Biggest day so far, eh? Better watch the jinxing action there, Bosiopan. BiE wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of this bunch…
