Travis Hansen: yet another Russian

April 2, 2008

After JR Holden got a Russian passport because of the lack of quality Point Guards in the Russian national team and for the national cause, and Becky Hammon got a Russian passport because of, well, because, hmm sincerely I don’t know why; we got now the news that Russia features another possible recruit for their National team.

The Russian Today website announced yesterday that Travis Hansen will get a Russian passport and this will open up another free spot in the roster of the team as he counts now as a Russian for the National league. What I liked was the way that the article is written, just check out the title.

Dynamo Moscow star nets Russian passport

This sound really like you can get a Russian passport as easy a scoring a free throw, even if for some guys this is not the easiest part of the game though. So the atmosphere was nice after the announcement of the news in the Dynamo Locker Room and Travis was really happy about his new asset probably worth several millions of dollars.

Additionally, Hansen can now start to think of participating at the 2008 Olympics if David Blatt eventually chooses him over JR Holden as Russian foreigner. He can already start to learn the Russian National Anthem for the Medal ceremony. And by the way, he is already a star of a music video by a (probably) famous Russian rock singer. So his integration in the team will not be too difficult.
