Baltic League Challenge Round

March 1, 2008

Most of the articles here are about the top teams and the top leagues. However, this time, I want to make a little exception and talk about the Baltic League Challenge Round, a kind of second division of the competitive North Eastern Europe competition.

In fact, this weekend has been played the Challenge Cup Final Four in Riga which decorates a winner that will earn his spot in the higher Elite Division. Four teams have qualified for this event and the winner is Nevezis KK from Lithuania. The Lithuanians only team defeated VEF Riga in the finals 81-68 and has now the right to play the Elite Division next season.

Aidas Viskontos got elected MVP especially because of his fantastic performance in Friday’s overtime thriller against Techasas where he scored 25pts and had 5rebs and 4asts. He was colder today as he only scored on FTs. The third place was for Panevezys Techasas, the former team of our friend Kerry Gibson who is now playing in the second Romanian division.
