Barca's Rubio picks apart old DKV mates

October 26, 2009

Ricky Rubio picked apart his old Joventut teammates in leading Barcelona to a convincing 92-59 thrashing of DKV at home on Saturday in the Spanish ACB.
In his first game against the Barcelona suburb team where he played for four seasons, Rubio dished out 10 assists while swiping five steals aand scoring six points in 21 minutes of action.
Here are just some of the highlights of Rubio, who seems to be loving playing with the likes of Fran Vazquez.

Rubio, who just turned 19 years old on Wednesday, has not needed to do much scoring for his new team, totally just 21 points in four ACB and one Euroleague game. But he has been dishing the rock, handing out 10 and nine in his last two games and 31 in five games. And he has 11 steals in those games, showing his game has more than translated to the bigger club atmosphere in Barcelona.

great passing, but NBA players defend better than Joventut players, so some of his passes will get picked off.. but man, really great passing.. J-Will comes to mind

some doubt about NBA players defensive skills…
they surely fill the space with theri bodies.. but the court is a little bit wider, inst’it??

This guy is the most fluid passer I have seen in such a long time…his passes seem to be coming from within the same motion that moves his body, completely out of nowhere and yet absolutely fitting. I am very interested in seeing him do that with running bigs in the NBA who can catch his alley oops lobs from anywhere. He may never be a great scorer, but as a passer his kid is a mixture between J-Will and Papaloukas and then some…

Rubio and Vazquez are enjoying playing with each other? That’s cute. How about they each grow a pair of cojones and play for the NBA teams they stiffed into using lottery picks on them? Cowards.

It’s not about cojones J.Cano… it’s about common sense. The NBA is OK for a lot of people, but is not the only option, you know….
