Ettore Messina to Barcelona – a done deal?

April 7, 2008

Ettore Messina BarcelonaAccording to the Lithuanian web site Krepsinis.net it is a done deal. Ettore Messina currently head coach of CSKA Moscow, accepted a three-year-deal with FC Barcelona.

A few weeks ago I talked to Mario Kasun (former Orland Magic center), who also will play for Barcelona next year again, telling me he doesn’t know anything about that deal – but he sure would like it. Are you sure Mario that you want that yelling Italian as your coach? Just kidding.

So what do we have here? David Blatt fired from Efes Pilsen, Ettore Messina saying yes to FC Barcelona, which leaves CSKA without a coach and David Blatt without a team.

Oh, one more thing – it will also leave the NBA without an European head coach.

Barcelona will be a major contender next year with Ilyasova, Alex Ackers, Rudy Fernandez and coach Messina.
