Euroleague Final Four: The real player blog

April 29, 2008

You may already have passed through the different Final Four Player blogs online on the Euroleague official website. I’m not the biggest fan of these literary pieces which sound more like the team’s PR officers imagining themselves as professional sportsmen instead of being written by the players themselves. That’s why I had the idea to write a player’s blog too.

Hi, my name is Matthias and I’m a Slovenian basketball player at CSKA Moscow. We are currently preparing the upcoming Euroleague Final Four that will be played in Madrid. As we will play against TAU, coach Ettore is working hard with us in practice and he shows me this Mirza Teletovic video twice a day to learn how to defend him. Personally, I know what to do and will show that former Belgian League player how to play basketball. Take this Mirza.

As I have been around the basketball world for quite a long time, though, I have made a couple of friends who I am going to invite to Madrid this weekend. Among those are of course my buddies Sani and Rasho who have lots of free time this weekend. We can then discuss how to beat Canada and Korea in Athens this summer to go to Beijing. We are going to analyze how to play the team from Asia, as they can not be underestimated. That’s why Ales has sent us this video to be prepared what type of opposition we will face in Athens:

Besides the practices, I don’t have a lot of free time these days, so the only stuff I do for the moment is check the IBN forum. Why, you ask? Well, they have a lot of insight there, and I’d really like to know where I’ll play next season. With Ettore probably leaving Moscow, I have to look for another destination, as well. And as he has not yet decided, I have to wait for his choice to foresee my future.

Take care, my friends, I will keep you updated about our preparation for Madrid.

This player blog is NOT written by a Euroleague player, and all resemblances to existing players are purely accidental.
