Fan Mail Jordi Bertomeu: the answers

February 10, 2008

Jordi BertomeuAs you may remember, we asked our readers to come up with some questions for Jordi Bertomeu as he was the “star” of this week’s edition of the Euroleague Fan Mail. And Ball in Europe is really happy that some of our questions were selected and we got an answer on them. Here are the results.

Which cities you would like to see in Euroleague; only speaking about the city itself, not its actual basketball power?

Hello to everyone at Ball in Europe and thanks for your Euroleague coverage. It is a very clear that we would like to have projects in big European cities where we are not present right now, such as Paris and London. This cannot be done out of the blue, of course; it requires a basketball culture and years of hard work. We believe that this basketball culture already exists in Berlin. Maybe its club, Alba Berlin, needs a bigger investment. But we would definitely like to have consolidated projects in Paris and London.

There are some rumors about the end of the NBA Europe Live Tour. Can you confirm these rumors or explain how exactly this concept will go ahead?

First of all, without knowing what the rumors are, it is difficult to respond. All we can say is that we are working to reach another two-year agreement with the NBA. Due to calendar problems, it is probable that the games between NBA teams and Euroleague teams will take place in the United States, not in Europe, next season. But after that, games are expected to take place in Europe once again. All we need is to define the agreement.

Besides the fact of location Ball in Europe in France, these two answers are quite clear and interesting. So for all the German fans, seeing ALBA Berlin in the Euroleague looks quite obvious right now. And for the NBA Europe Live Tour fans, they have to wait one year to see NBA teams doing their preseason games in Europe again.

Unfortunately however, Jordi did not respond the question about himself being vain or not.
