Worth another look: Khalid El-Amin's Upset of the Year capper

January 27, 2011

The toast of Vilnius

Readers of BallinEurope know that BiE loathes hyperbole in sports reportage. But seriously, Lietuvos Rytas upending Caja Laboral Baskonia, 89-86, in Spain last night? Upset of the 2010-11 season thus far, no?

So below the break runs a short clip of heroics from Khalid El-Amin, who contributed 22 points on crazy 7-of-8 overall shooting, and the rest. Thrill again to Baskonia’s rollercoaster ride of doom as Mirza Teletovic smoothly hits the three to tie things up; goggle again to El-Amin’s awesome launch from waaaaaaaaaaay beyond the arc to win; and marvel again at the incredible sound of 9,000-plus attendees at Fernando Buesa Arena simultaneously gasping with existential horror. (If you can hear it below the corny Euroleague-overdubbed guitar riffing, that is.)
