New K1X basketball sneakers

March 8, 2008

k1x The basketball brand K1X might be known to most of the European basketball fans, players and sneakerheads, while the 1993 founded company out of Munich just begins to conquer the American market. They also started a k1x blog, that talks about their players like Corey “homicide Williams, who just signed with Cibona Zagreb. Just in case you are looking for the category “girls and basketball” the k1x blog might be the place to be.K1X is also within the Euroleague. You might have seen Ademola Okulaja, Fabio die Bella, Jonas Maciulis and of course NBA player Ron Artest wearing k1x basketball shoes.

A few days ago the marketing department of k1x sent us a few pictures of their new sneaker called k1x chiefgilder II. The first edition of the Chiefglider came out in as many as 20 different colors and styles and was very successful in Europe. IN an interview with the sneaker site kickology.net, founder Chris Grosse talked about the start with the Chiefglider:

Was designing and developing your own shoe something that you’d been thinking about for a long time?

Chris: I’ve known Pete for a long time and he is a true baller. He’s had hoops shoe ideas spinning around his head for the longest time. But he worked for Puma and had to design soccer shoes and car racing styles (big in Europe). When I promised him that we were actually going to make a performance basketball shoe if he came up with a promising concept, he worked on it day and night. He has put years of ideas and concepts into the Chiefglider. He told me a dream came true for him when we finally got started.

So why a new version of the Chiefglider? Performance is the focus with that sneaker. K1X added “memory foam” to give you extra fitting and support at the heel. They also redesigned the cushioning of the shoe.

Within the next weeks we will try to cover present a few more companies out of Europe that actually make their own basketball performance sneakers. For now, here are the preview pictures of the new K1X Chiefglider II. What is your experience with K1X so far?

He’s been wearing Nike Force 90 since the beginning of the season (as shown on the picture here: http://images.sportsline.com/u/ap/photos/LAS120031002_lower.jpg). Also And1 seems to be leaving the high performance echelon of hoops. They have lost Sasha Vujacic, Jeff McInnis and some other guys to Nike and other shoe brands. The only marquee guy left with them is Monta Ellis.
