2012 Olympic basketball: Cold War clash to be repeated?

From the newswire this morning comes a bit of nostalgia for those who remember and perhaps a tiny bit of history for those who don’t remember Team USSR of the old Olympic Games … BiE’s telling ya, it’s USA vs. Russia in the finals…

The United States NBA Dream Team and Russia’s top basketball talent could be headed for an Olympic gold medal showdown of ex-Cold War rivals 40 years in the making, or possibly even two of them. Not since a controversial 1972 final in which the Soviet Union defeated the US men on the third attempt…

    Now one is mentioning the 1994 World Championships when the US beat Russia by 46 in the gold medal game?
