Official 2010 BallinEurope mock draft, version 2.0

Now that the order for the 2010 NBA Draft has been officially settled, BallinEurope’s man in the U.K., Sam Chadwick, revisits his mock draft of last week with updated prognostications for the first 30 choices. Prospective European draftees in Donatas Motiejunas and Miroslav Raduljica haven’t budged on Sam’s chart and much of the lower half […]

Everything you've always wanted to know about Barcelona vs. Unicaja (in English)

On Saturday, perhaps the marquee matchup on the ACB slate – if for historical significance only – will be the FC Barcelona vs. Unicaja match. The league’s official website has quite the extensive collection of facts ‘n’ figures about this match and the 15-year record of meetings between these two clubs, of which BallinEurope attempted […]

In return to Cleveland Cavaliers, Big Z gets W, standing O

Absence does make the heart grow fonder, it seems. After being away from the NBA team he’d called home since entering the league in 1997 for six due to some financial manipulation by the Cleveland Cavaliers and Washington Wizards, Zydrunas Ilgauskas returned to the floor for the Cavs. On “Kid’s Night” at “Quicken Loans Arena,” […]

Draft profile: Donatas Motiejunas

Now that NBA mock drafting is in full swing (despite the total lack of clarity regarding playoff positioning, not to mention seeing how the damn lottery ping-pong balls fall this year), BallinEurope’s man in the U.K., Sam Chadwick, will be taking a look at some of Europe’s prospective high draft picks. Today, it’s all about […]

Best of the (basketball) net: Happy Birthday, Charles edition

Ball in Europe will be rounding up this weekend’s European cup action tomorrow, but for today here are a handful of stories from the interwebs this week about every other subject in a seven-day span spent mostly between deprogramming from NBA All-Star Weekend and preparing for the Copa del Rey. • The best post of […]

Ruminations on ex-Cavalier Ilgauskas (Come to Europe, Z…)

Did you know that Zydrunas Ilgauskas is the Cleveland Cavaliers’ all-time leader in games played, minutes played, blocked shots, offensive rebounds, and total rebounds? Or that the sportswriting team at the Cleveland Plain-Dealer just this month named him the fifth-best player in Cavaliers history? Maybe, maybe not: After all, for most of his 12 seasons […]

The BallinEurope All-Decade All-European Team

While technically this decade doesn’t end until 2010, with millions of sports websites and blogs proclaiming December 31 the end of the 2000s, who is BallinEurope to be pedantic? (Especially when there’s a good excuse to make an all-time team roster.) Therefore, in the spirit of a new era, BallinEurope seeks to comprise Europe’s All-Decade […]

Morning Eurohoops news (videos, mainly, really): December 5

How about a few videos to start your weekend? Ball in Europe runs a (mostly) video version of the news this morning, with top plays from Spain, parts throughout Europe, and Washington. Add in a little bombast from France and one American item (don’t worry; it’s short) and it’s … a good way to spend […]

Agent Zero on Twitter? Oh please, oh please…

Who wants more Gilbert Arenas? Hey, who doesn’t? But after Agent Zero shut down his Washington Post-hosted “Gilbert’s Blog” last year, internet missives from probably the greatest jock-blogger ever have been non-existent and Arenas himself has kept a low public profile. Yesterday, however, Zero’s fellow Washington Wizard JaVale McGee went on Twitter to state that […]
