Trajan Langdon on assimilating into Russian culture

July 5, 2010

What’s it like being a basketball star in Russia? Here’s a piece that recently ran on English-language program Russia Today, a day in the life kinda thing on longtime CSKA Moscow player Trajan “The Alaskan Assassin” Landon.

Langdon has truly settled down to live the expat family experience in Russia, even adopting a Muscovite family dog who is spoken to in Russian.

Kudos to Langdon for his tremendous respect for Stepmother Russia and for a sincere effort to assimilate into local culture; let’s just hope for his sake, this portrait of his comfortable life doesn’t kill his next contract negotiation with a club that knows he never seriously wants to leave.

Enjoy the video. There’s even a particularly good bit of Simmonsesque unintentional comedy at clip’s end which reveals these studio hosts to have absolutely no chemistry together at all. Plus bonus clip for no good reason of Langdon’s induction into the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame.

Langdon was always a good 7th man off the bench in NBA Live who could come in and hit a shot.
