BallinEurope.com was founded in September 2007 by Christophe Ney (who now runs the excellent scouting-themed website European Prospects) and Tobias Seitz, both then bloggers for FIBA.com with over 10 years’ worth of experience in the professional basketball world each. The mission then was to “provide a very unique perspective of Basketball in and about Europe.”
Os Davis joined the BallinEurope team in early 2008 as content editor, ultimately taking over management of the website in June 2009. He first began his sportswriting career in Albuquerque, USA, in 1992. He has divided his time between New Mexico and Budapest, Hungary, since 1995. He promises to continue the BallinEurope philosophy of providing a fresh and current look at European basketball with information, opinion and fun in quality fashion with top-notch English-language writing.
In 2012, BallinEurope is proud to regularly run the work of a number of distinguished contributors. As of this writing, the BiE roster includes the following.
• Enrico Cellini is lifelong basketball fanatic and a long-time sportswriter with a focus on Italy and Spain. He was born among European hoops, was raised watching the NBA, and thinks choosing between American and European basketball is like choosing between one’s mother and father. You can follow him on Twitter or check out his Italian-language blog Hoop Addicted.
• Sam Chadwick is the co-head coach of the Solent Kestrels U14 basketball team, along with dividing the remainder of his time among an assistant quantity surveyor job, university studies and sportswriting. Chadwick is a contributor at BBLfans.com, and you can follow him on Twitter at @chadwick9.
• Marko Savkovic fell in love with basketball because: a) his older brother used to play, so it must have been a cool thing to do; and b) he witnessed Vlade Divac, Dino Radja and Toni Kukoc play an exhibition match back in 1988. After learning the fundamentals with Partizan Belgrade, Marko spent four years in FMP Zeleznik’s youth system and another three playing lower-division ball. Years later, as a political science graduate, he found a different career for himself, yet remained devoted to hoops. For BallinEurope, he will be closely following developments in the Adriatic league. You may write him at markosavkovic@gmail.com.
• Germany-based David Hein is often (justifiably, we think) dubbed by BiE as “the hardest-working man in European sportswriting.” Aside from contributing to BallinEurope, FIBA’s official website and the Bundesliga Basketball League official website, he also writes for numerous German- and English-language outlets on sports from soccer and basketball on down. Check out far-ranging samples of his work at heinnews.com.
• Finally, there’s Y., BallinEurope’s ace-in-the-hole, the man-in-the-know in hoops mad Lithuania. Though technically not actually a writer for the website, Y.’s straight dope, input sharp opinion and tales of Mad Vlad are invaluable to us here, so props.

Dear Sirs,
I have searched the whole internet for Russian attendance statistics and have found meaningful information only on yours site. Could you please give me information on average attendance on CSKA, Dinamo mathes at home (in Moscow) in 2005-2009? Hope you could know that.. Otherwise have no clue where to find it.
Great thanks in advance!
Andrey,
This isn’t the easiest information to find, but i’ll try to get you some numbers on those games.
Cheers,
Os
Hi,
Can you ,please, tell me if there are odds at the moment for WHO WILL REACH FINAL FOUR in this year competition – EUROLEAGUE BASKETBALL ??
Looking forward to hear from you !
Regards
Milovan
Milovan,
Right now, neither of BallinEurope.com’s bookmaker sponsors — Sporting Bet and Bet 365 — are offering Final Four odds on Euroleague; those lines have been closed, apparently. Currently, Bet 365 is taking odds on top-two finishes, however. The favorites to play in the championship are:
Panathinaikos: 1/1
Olympiakos: 10/9
Regal FC Barcelona: 10/9
Real Madrid: 5/3
Montepaschi: 8/3
CSKA Moscow: 6/1
Maccabi Tel Aviv: 6/1
Baskonia: 6/1
Unicaja: 11/1
Efes Pilsen: 11/1
Hope this helps somewhat.
Cheers,
Os
Dear friends, you Are talking about Ball in Europe and not mention SERBIA at all?
Above i see the list where there is NO team called PARTIZAN, BELGRADE.
tonight is 4th (and i believe last game in 1/4 final series) in Belgrade. Partizan leads 2-1 against big MAKABI TEL AVIV (israel) and some 22000 people will chear for them.
I have video from “Arena” where you can see how Partizan supporters made atmosphere and how they love that team.
I must say that coach is Dusko Vujosevic, officially last year’s european coach of the year.
Amazing thing about this team, coach and Serbian basketball in general is that for example Partizan have 8 new, young, unknown players this year, and just couple of hours from now they may verify the trip to Paris F4.
Also if you need any assistance about Basketball Serbia i will help. I played my self there (so called semi-pro) and now i live in Atlanta, GA, USA.
My recomendation, put your money on Partizan, if you do it, i will just watch and enjoy whatever result is.
And one more thing, you guys should know that ONLY coach outside been American and was offered to be head coach of one NBA Team is current Serbian national coach Dusan Ivkovic.
That is all from me, all the best and let the Partizan win

[...] One question that BallinEurope receives in the virtual inbox from time to time was asked again this week by reader Richard: [...]
Hi,
Do you know where can I get info about transfer periods (and especially when they end) in each country in Europe?
I thought that FIBA will have this info published in favor of players who need to know which markets are still open for them, but I found nothing.
Maybe you can fill this void ?
Thanks
my name is Samuel i will like to play europe basketball please i need your help sir

Hi,
Kind of a crazy question, but would any of you happen to know where I can get in on a pick up game in the Rhineland Pfalz area of Germany? My wife is from there, and the past two times we’ve visited I didn’t see much in the way of outdoor basketball, or recreation centers. I know there is a base with a gym, but I’m not in the military so I can’t get on the base. Plus, I think it would be cool to play against so Germans, some aspiring Nowitzkis if you will.
I’ve scoured the internet and have come up with nichts.
Help me BallinEurope website editor you’re my only/last hope.
@ Trey: Gee, i hate not to live up to the standard set by Luke Skywalker, but i have to admit most of contacts in Germany are in the Munich area … can anyone else help out…?
For the past decade, more or less, Dirk has been considered the “best” euro baller. Do you guys think that torch been passed to Pau?
Dear BallinEurope,
NCAA basketball is almost upon us. What cool/promising European players should we be on the look out for in the collegiate ranks? Also, if you keep up with Latin American players, could we get a heads up on that too? (a la the next Grevious Vasquez)
