AUDIO: O’Reilly says Irish players are better than ever

January 20, 2015

UCC Demons player coach Colin O’Reilly leads the reigning champions into the Irish Cup final this Saturday night. Ahead of their battle with UCD Marian, O’Reilly spoke with TG4 about the game in Ireland right now and the challenge presented from UCD Marian.

Despite Demons being undefeated in all competitions this season, after suffering just three losses across last season, O’Reilly said he isn’t underestimating the challenge posed by the underdogs.

“Every time we’ve played UCD, it’s always tough. The can play a few different styles of basketball – they can get up and down with you and they will sit in the zone at times and try slow you down. But for us we’re going to prepare specifically for shutting them down. We’re generally about defence because that will lead to easy baskets. Offensively we’ll freelance it a bit and push the ball as much as possible,” said the UCC Demons player-coach.
