Live streams for free

January 30, 2008

Yes, this is what offers the French Basketball league from the 1st of February. So yare you ready to see Nicolas Batum or Marc Salyers in action? Nope, you are not in the right place then, because it is not the Men’s league but the LFB, the french women’s league that I am talking about.

As Tobi just pointed out the ESPN pack to watch Men’s College Basketball via ESPN 360, I found this post on the "Le Coach Basket" blog which talks about the new feature of the website of the LFB. So starting on the 1st of February, you can follow every week a live stream of Women’s basketball from France.

The schedule starts with a interesting Euroleague participants clash between Villeneuve d’Ascq and Bourges. All the games will also be available to be watched on later dates on the website and the commentators for the first game will be the actual coach of Lille Christian Cléante together with Yann Kappes from the LFB press office.

Additionally, all the semi-finals and finals will be broadcasted live and at the same moment at the end of April. After having discovered the poor amout of money the French league gets for their Men’s competition, it is easily to guess that this is a real promotional service as the league will probably not earn any money in this as they produce and distribute the images themselves. However, it is an interesting platform for all the teams as they have first of all a live broadcast of their games and secondly also a better way to sell themselves to possible sponsors. So for me, it is now easier to watch a French Women’s game than a Men’s game.
