NBA Europe: pregame notes

October 7, 2007

I just took a walk through the whole building and I must say that this is one of the best arenas for fans. You can see the game very good from anywhere in the gym since it is all round – not only outside. As a fan you are probably 6 feet away from the players bench and the seats behind the basketbal aren’t as bad as the ones in some other arenas.

I also saw that all the Raptors are warming up and that – believe it or not – Garbajosa shaved his beard – well trimmed it. For Roma I only saw Allan Ray on the court taking some shots with 45 minutes to go.

Dejan Bodiroga is the man here in Rome. Even some of the reporters are running around in his jersey. Now when you take a look at the Virtus’ roster he still could play for them! They got some serious experienced players on their team – Alessandro Tonollo (1974), Roberto Gabini (1975) and of course Gregor Fucka (1971). Dejan Bodiroga was born in 1973.

Maybe the rules are interesting too: They will use the European zone (last night we got an all NBA court) but there are still both 3-point lines on the floor. I will try to find out – well I guess I will anyway when the game starts.

EDIT: 20 minutes before the game the Palalottomatica is almost empty. Now if you are from Rome get yourself going and watch that game!
