November 3, 2010

While Election Day went on throughout America, the city of Portland was treated to a nice shadow campaign, propagated by individual(s) unknown. Riffing on former Trail Blazer Chris Dudley’s campaign for governor of Oregon, some basketball aficionados in the state crafted a bit of a samizdat poster for Lithuanian citizen Arvydas Sabonis to rule govern the state on whose basketball courts he once roamed.

While as of this writing (8.40am Portland time), ballot counters had determined that Dudley was winning his race by a margin of just about 1%. No word on the fledgling Sabonis campaign has been given, however.

Just FIY, Dudley lost in the end… and Sabonis is too lazy to even get seriously involved in managing Zalgiris (when he was still the boss…) so can’t imagine him in government 🙂

This is a super cool poster! I bet whoever put it together could make a lot of money selling them on ebay to old saba/blazers fans.
