Ty Lawson, "big fan" of EuroBasket, arrives in Lithuania

September 2, 2011

Prospective Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson arrived in Lithuania yesterday to visit his soon-to-be home base of Kaunas, where he’ll be suiting up for Euroleague squad Zalgiris. Local media managed to break away from its wall-to-wall coverage of the 2011 FIBA Eurobasket tournament to interview Lawson and welcome him to the Continental basketball capital.

Highlight of the interview? How about this exchange:

Q: “Do you know about the tournament going on in Lithuania right now?”
Lawson: “Ah, the European Basketball Championship, right? Yeah, I’m a big fan of it … I’ve got four of my teammates playing, so I’m going to cheer them on.”

To which BiE can only add, “Sveiki atvykę į Lietuvą!”
