Betting on Euroleague basketball: Tonight’s pointspreads and over/under lines

October 21, 2009

Euroleague tips off tonight and with it come thousands of predictions and opinions on the outcomes of this evening’s six matches. To better gauge expectations, what better to consult than a bookie? After all, as I always say, these are the guys who stand to lose the most by choosing poorly. Handicaps and over/unders, courtesy Ball in Europe sponsor Bet 365 run below – and no, that Olympiacos-Orleanaise line is not a typo.

Maroussi vs. CSKA Moscow
Handicap: Maroussi plus-6.5
over/under: 143

Zalgiris Kaunas vs. Asvel Basket

Handicap: Zalgiris minus-7
over/under: 153.5

Cibona Zagreb vs. Montepaschi Siena
Handicap: Cibona plus-6.5
over/under: 153

Fenerbahce Ulker vs. Regal FC Barcelona
Handicap: Fenerbahce plus-7
over/under: 144.5

Olympiacos vs. Entente Orleanaise
Handicap: Olympiacos minus-19.5
over/under: 154

Asseco Prokom vs. EWE Baskets Oldenburg
Handicap: Prokom minus-7.5
over/under: 147.5

So what’s tantalizing here? Despite their newbie status, Maroussi might well cover that 6.5 points at home against new-look CSKA and that over/under of 143 seems really likely to go under, particularly if you believe in the traditionally stifling Moscow defense. And while taking Orleanaise plus 19.5, a team that has continuously surprised since its second-place finish in France in 2009 and straight through into Euroleague Qualifying Round games, is a bit tempting, Momma always told me never to mess with 20-point spreads.

Bet 365 has a plethora of proposition bets and other odds on these games and Euroleague outright finishes. For more information, click on the banners or logos at right. Good luck, everyone!
