Brandon Jennings will be a blogger

September 24, 2008

Thanks to THE man at SLAMmagazine, Ben Osbourne, we have learned that Brandon Jennings will sign with Under Armour. Under Armour might be as well known to Europeans as European travel calls are to NBA players: not at all.

I’m not even sure if Under Armour is sold in Europe right now. (Oh wait: It is – even a German soccer club is wearing Under Armour jerseys.)

Looking at this picture, I can’t really tell what kind of untied sneakers Brandon is wearing; all I know is that the picture was taken in the Lottomatica practice arena while the sun was shining. So we will see if Brandon releases his own pair soon and if it will be available in Europe or if Under Armour is investing in Brandon’s NBA future.

What’s interesting and more important for us is that Brandon will start his own blog soon – in October 2008:

The blog will allow fans the opportunity to follow Brandon’s experiences in Rome and his pursuit of his athletic goals.

Let’s hope Brandon does not take the Euroleague players’ blogging as an example and write one post within the whole season. Welcome to the family, Brandon!

    This is awesome news, Tobias.

Do you know where Brandon Jennings’ blog will be? On some under armor website, maybe?

Brandon Jennings’ success and acclimation to the European game is of particular interest to me as I have started a blog that will focus on the NBA-to-Europe and back crosscurrents from an American perspective. I’ve already posted a couple times about B- Jennings here:

    Hey Evin,

Well, if you read the whole article on SLAMonline, you can see that the press release says, that the blog will be on underarmour.com. No specific details though where and when in October.

All basketball fans on both sides of the Atlantic should be interested in following Jennings. Although I dislike preps-to-pros kids, I must admit that Jennings is bright. He understands that he is a rookie who is going to need to work hard and learn how to play a cerebral style of basketball. If he can play well in Europe, basketball fans in America are going to look at increased migration of young players from West to East. How cool would that be?

“Here, it isn’t like what basketball was in the U.S., where everyone just sits back and watches the individual player.” – Brandon Jennings

I’ve followed rumors about B.J. all summer long (slamonline, ballislife, his fan site) and i’m really excited he’ll fire up the Italian league (as i’m Italian)!!
I can tell that under armour stuff is available in Italy since one or two years (mc david too) and I think that Dimitri “Doum” Lauwers is supported by under armour too (or is it mc david…now i can’t remember well).
I’ve just found the site browsing the web! Nice job Toby! Hope to meet u and M. again someday..

P.S. Sneakers that Brandon is wearing in the picture are a new pair of under armour shoes. Absolutely not a great one! Check it:
