Coach Calipari's last word on Enes Kanter

October 21, 2010

One last quickie this morning for y’all: Coach John Calipari has posted what is promised to be his final statement on Enes Kanter NCAA eligibility matter.

Calipari spoke to ESPN reporters covering the University of Kentucky’s “Big Blue Madness” last Friday (ostensibly when he might have received word from NCAA officials — but didn’t) and later expanded upon his comments for his blog.

Despite the vaguery regarding exactly when a decision might be handed down (um, doesn’t the college basketball season start, like, real soon?), Calipari is remaining somewhat positive about the organization:

“First of all everybody has to understand, the NCAA is not working against us or Enes, they’re working with us. They very easily could have shut this down and said, ‘We’re not even looking into it.’”

Calipari concluded that “I think, at the end of the day, the NCAA has been fair. They’ve been more than fair. They’re going to make this decision and we want it to be right because it’s going to affect all foreign players in a similar situation from here on in.”
