D-Hawk lands with Montepaschi Siena

July 24, 2009

David “D-Hawk” Hawkins, a man on a mission since going undrafted out of Temple University in 2004, is taking his high-scoring game to Montepaschi Siena. On Friday, the team announced Hawkins’ signing a two-year contract with an option in 2011.

When no NBA team drafted him in 2004, Hawkins signed with Sebastiani Rieti. From Rieti to Virtus Roma to AJ Milano he’s gone, taking a clutch game with him: In two years of Euroleague play with Roma, Hawkins went for 13.6 and 10.9 points per game; in EuroCup play, Hawkins averaged 18.5 points and an incredible 2.9 steals per game.

D-Hawk contributed nicely to AJ Milano’s Euroleague effort last season, starting in all 16 games the team played and playing nearly 29 minutes per. Hawking averaged 13.8 points a game on 50.9% shooting from the floor, 30.5% on threes, and 82.4% from the line.
