Euroleague LIVE: Bamberg – Barcelona

January 31, 2008

Thanks to David Hein:

7:45
hi all
dave hein here in bamberg. 45 minutes than expected. hope i get some fans out there. less than 15 minutes before tip-off
7:48
We have Bamberg hoping to finish off the Euroleague with a bit of respect and clinched their third win of the season. but it will for sure finish last in group c. and barcelona are 8-5 coming in but cannot move out of the third place in the group. so, there is not a lot up for grabs here tonight

7:58
We have chris ensminger in street clothes and demond greene is supposedly unable to play as well – those he’s in bamberg dress
8:01
Bauermann seemed pretty relaxed ahead of the game – knowing that his German national team will be playing Cape Verde and New Zealand in the pre-olympic qualifiying tournament. though greece and brazil await in the quarters
8:02
Demirel, hamann, okualaja, fenn and suput
vs
acker, vazquez, lakovic, trias and basile
8:02
And demirel starts us off with a three-ball and Fenn’s inside basket makes it 5-0 early.
8:04
Vazquez knocks down an open jumper and then a nice feed to trias 5-4
8:05
CN: Christophe is also here, I am actually following the Real – PAO game and give you some updates about that game
8:06
Vazquez too much inside for Bamberg early. an offensive rebound put-back has barca to within 7-6 as the orlando magic draft pick missed his foul shot
8:06
welcome christophe
8:08
Acker nails a trey to even things at 9-9 as barca are shooting well from outside early
8:09
CN: 7-8 in Madrid when Spanoulis and Saras enter the court for the Greens
8:10
Lakovic has now missed two long balls as Bamberg are up 11-9
8:12
Barca has a small lineup with ilyasova and trias on the inside with Vazquez out with two fouls early – basile trey gives barcelona their first lead 11-12
8:14
so, 12-12 after an okulaja FT and ohlbrecht enters the game for bamberg. but he cant get out to block ilyasova’s long ball – 12-15
8:16
basile hit a long two to up the lead to five but garrett’s foul shots made it 14-17
8:18
CN: Madrid had a little run and is now up with 6 at 20-14
8:20
Bamberg havent been able to do much and Lakovic’s jumper after an offensive rebound made it 14-21 before Ohlbrecht got back quick enough for a dunk for the 16-21 scoreline after one period.
8:26
Bamberg have come out with some pretty good energy and Fenn knocked down a three from the wing and then garrett’s jumper evened things at 21-21. but garrett through the ball away after another bamberg stop. still 21-21
8:30
monster block by ilyasova – suprised he hasnt done more this season. love this kid, who is really still a kid at 20 or so. was looking forward to this game to see him since i’ve seen him a couple times with the turkish national team. it wont be long before he’s back in the NBA
8:31
CN: I switched now to Milano to follow the NBA prospect duel between Gallinari and Nicolas Batum
8:33
Barcelona inside second team guys picking apart the bamberg interior. tough layup by grimau and then a garrett layup. but a trey from ilyasova has it bavck to 23-28
8:35
Ilyasova hits again, this time from inside the arc on the wing for 23-30 and bamberg call a timeout. as has been the problem all season – too many turnovers.
8:40
CN: But no Gallinari on the court, he is watching the game in street clothes
8:41
that’ shame. how is batum doing?

8:43
CN: he is not in the game so far, lost a ball easily at the beginning.
8:44
so, the last minute was pretty exciting – moncasi had a dunk follow on a missed FT – the second time barca scored after a missed FT. and then okualaja scored inside and demirel raced down for a nice reverse layup for a 31-34 game at the break
8:45
so, taking a break

8:46
CN: i am back in Madrid to follow the last 2 minutes of the first half, game is way more exciting there
8:51
CN: Very bad decision by Sani Becirovic who was arguing a bit too much and got T 20 seconds before half
8:52
CN: wow, nice decision by Euroleague TV. switching to the Half Time screen 20 seconds before it after a timeout call. thank you
8:55
CN: back in Milano in a totally empty Datchforum. it really looks like there are a maximum of 500 people
8:56
CN: now Le Mans with a young trio on the court Diot Leloup and Batum
9:02
bamberg grabbed the lead with two baskets to start the second half – suput and hamann with assist by suput. but Vazquez scored a llay-up and two fts for a 35-38 lead. only to see suput even things with a long triple
9:07
things really picking up here… hamann hit two tough lay-ups and suput has knocked down to three-pointers and jako arena is going nutes – 48-44 for bamberg
9:07
CN: 28-43 in Milano
9:11
Garrett again from downtown and it’s 51-46
9:13
and that’s three quarters – 51-46 for bamberg
9:15
Lakovic starts the fourth with a long ball – 51-49
9:18
nice sequence there – ohlbrecht hammer dunk and then a fine block on an out of position vazquez

9:19
this might be a bamberg win – barca not making WIDE open shots inside. but hamann missed a three-ball only to have suput with a great block on the outside on the defensive end
9:21
[Comment From Guest] Score in bamberg?
9:21
55-51 after a demirel jumper
9:21
CN: Madrid is up 60-53 against PAO
9:22
lakovic knocks down a jumper and it’s 55-53 to which fenn answers with a three-ball – 58-53
9:22
[Comment From Keith from CoveritLive] ok..thank you.
9:23
two quick barca hoops and it’s 58-57
9:24
Ohlbrecht working really really hard on defense
9:25
but it’s not enough and lakovic nails a trey for a 59-60 barca lead
and now grimau is shooting a ft to make for a possible three-point play and a four point lead

9:28
missed the FT and Okulaja hit inside – one point game
9:30
lakovic hit two foul shots and then barca stole the ball and then lakovic nailed a long jumper – 61-66 with two minutes to go
9:31
