FCS Rankings – Sam Houston and James Madison are Leading the Preseason Poll

August 26, 2021

FCS football is back after a 2020-2021 spring season that was spectacular. But that is not all – the first 25 divisions were ranked, and Sam Houston is on top of them, with 1228 points in total. Here are the first five ones, so you know who to keep an eye on if you wish to bet on  https://www.gg.bet/en/football/.

1. Sam Houston

When entering the 2021 season, Sam Houston already set their minds on defending their national title. They have been a strong force ever since November 2019, as they haven’t lost games after that month. The division is led by Eric Schmid and Jahari Kay, and the entire roster is made of talented players. As such, Sam Houston looks like it’s going to be serious competition for the rest of the divisions.

2. James Madison

In the FCS, James Madison is one of the premier programs. The last time they won a championship was in 2016, and it looks like it may be their time to shine once again. In the semifinals from last year, they have a 24-3 lead, so it’s not surprising they are one of the top divisions. Not only that but there are five returning All-Americans in the division, which fuel them and may boost their performance a lot.

3. South Dakota State

Unfortunately for South Dakota State, they lost against Sam Houston last spring with 23-21, so they didn’t win their first title yet. However, 10 starters are returning, which may give South Dakota State a boost. Pierre Strong Jr. is one of these starters. With the Walter Payton Award finalist and many others returning, South Dakota State has turned into favorites in MVFC, so they are expected to show some great things in the season to come.

4. North Dakota State

This time around, North Dakota State will not be a defending chapter, and this is the first time this is happening since 2017. They have won 8 out of the last 10 championships in the FCS, so this is pretty rare. The roster of the division is full of talents, one of the players being Christian Watson, who is one of the best FCS wide receivers. Fans will likely see some good things from them.

5. Delaware

Even though they missed the playoffs in the previous year, Delaware became an integral part of the scene the last spring when they went to the semifinals. They will surely show off the next season too, proving that their success was not a coincidence. Delaware has many talents to show, such as Kendrick Whitehead and David Kroll. It’s no surprise they are one of the top divisions.

Keep an eye on the divisions and you may witness some spectacular matches in the next season.
