Last look at what FIBA Worlds meant to Lithuania

September 21, 2010

Let’s take just one last gander at the FIBA World Championship before closing the book on that tournament and opening Euroleague play for 2010-11…

BallinEurope’s attention has been drawn to an interesting 11-minute long docusportdrama (BiE just made that word up) of the sort YouTube fosters. The somewhat-unwieldily titled “And you? Are you able to understand what this means for Lithuania?” is a great look back at what the strong showing from Team Lithuania symbolized.

Taking us through the aftermath of the “disaster in Poland,” i.e. the Eurobasket flameout that left the likes of Linas Kleiza, Simas Jasaitis and Mantas Kalnietis apologizing to fans while wondering aloud about team psychological issues, to the Green-and-Golds triumph over Spain and beyond in the Worlds, YouTube user Dabqtis presents a nice tale of basketball redemption.

(And the addition by Dabqtis of English-language subtitles to the player-interview segments is so appreciated that BiE’ll overlook the Guns ‘n’ Roses soundtrack in endorsing this nice bit of work. Kudos.)
