Happy new year, Andrea!

January 1, 2008

Fortitudo Upim aka Beghelli Bologna announced yesterday that Andrea Mazzon has been cut. Firing a coach on the 31st of December shows the level of frustration that must have been reached within the decisional board in Bologna.

We talked already at several occasions that Mazzon was close to be cut, now the decision has been taken. And there have also been rumors around that say that Bologna is interested in a Eastern Europe coach, which could be the actual Olimpija Ljubljana head coach Memi Becirovic.

However, the team is still struggling in the Italian despite a assembling of stars but probably without any team chemistry. With the signing of a new coach, there are some big possibilities that there will also be some roster changes.  We will see what happens in the next days and who will become the new allenatore for Fortitudo and what type of changes he will do.

Arrivederci Mazzon, bienvenuti …

Though, I have to say I have a huge respect for Mazzon. Very underrated coach.
