It's the way basketball was meant to be played

October 15, 2007

This quote comes from Brent Barry after the game of the San Antonio Spurs against Panathinaikos Athens on Saturday. Even if the Greeks lost the game heavily, some people of the Spurts front office and also players were impressed by the Basketball science produced by the “Greens”.

In a recent article by the San Antonio Express, Coach Gregg Popovich was intrigued by the game scheme established by coach Zelimir Obradovic to face the defending NBA Champ.  He even goes that far to declare that Obradovic is one the best coaches in the world and that he would easily have his place in the NBA.

Obradovic is known however for having declared that he is not interested by joining the NBA as a coach as he probably would never have the necessary decision power to build a team like he wants to have it. Something he can do without problem in Panathinaikos.

To all the Spurs fans, check some games of Panathinaikos this season, and you will probably recognize some future plays of the NBA team. As Popovich said, he is looking forward to check the game tape of this last game and he really wants to introduce some of the setups into his own offense.
