Iverson officially a Grizzly, Navarro officially freed

September 10, 2009

Breaking this fan’s heart was the news that Allen Iverson would officially be forsaking an Olympiacos offer that may or may not have been altogether fictional for the Memphis Grizzlies. Yes, the Memphis Freaking Grizzlies.

To make way for A.I. and his reportedly incentive-laden, one-year, $3.5-plus million deal, the Grizzlies withdrew an offer to Team Spain guard Juan Carlos Navarro, meaning that Navarro is free of the Memphis Gasols, an officially unrestricted free agent surely to be playing for FC Barcelona with his new pal Ricky Rubio for a few years at least.

How good will Barcelona be with Navarro? Figure plenty. How good will Memphis be with Iverson? Probably not so much. Most importantly who would win in a game of two-on-two, Navarro/Rubio or O.J. Mayo/Iverson?
