Jesse Owens great-nephew to play in Turkey

ULEB cup team Galatasaray Istanbul signed American Chris Owens yesterday to help the team be more successful in the ULEB cup. Chris Owens played for ALBA Berlin last season, which also was playing in the ULEB cup.

The ULEB Cupis the second-caliber professional basketball league in Europe, with teams from national leagues joined in ULEB (Basketball European Leagues Union), that haven’t qualified for the Euroleague.

The winner and the runner-up, if certain conditions are met, are invited to participate in the next season’s Euroleague. (wikipedia)

Before Chris Owens played in Germany for ALBA Berlin, he previously played for Pallacanestro Trapani in Italy, CB Granada in Spain and Panionios Athens in Greece.

The domestic league in Turkey (TBL – BEKO Basketbol Ligi) starts on October 13th were Chris Owens’ team will play Banvitspor.
