Kerry Gibson has something to say

December 8, 2007

After all these comments that we got on that article that has been deleted by now, I thought I would try to get in contact with Kerry to see if he has something to say about this situation. Kerry’s friend, Anthony Koch who originally posted the interview with Kerry Gibson, answered me this:

Well, Kerry issued this apology for our paper. So here this is and if there is anything else he wants to say, I will get back to you. Thanks for this.

To all that it may concern,

I wanted to apologize for the article that was written a few days ago that has had everyone angry with me. I did not mean things that were said in it. It was a question and answer piece done via the Internet, and the reporter could not tell my tone of voice, and notice that I was saying a lot of the things I said jokingly. It was a terrible lapse in judgment by myself, and I apologize sincerely for that. Things that were written in it were misworded and misunderstood. I do like Lithuania, and I am glad that I am here playing basketball. I hope that you will be able to understand that this was just all a big misunderstanding. Although I know this will not be easily forgotten by the people of Lithuania and around the globe, I truly hope we can move past this embarrassing incident and everybody can accept my deepest and most sincere apologies.

Sincerely,

Kerry Gibson

I just hope it is not ripped out of the context again.

EDIT: I just got an email from Anthony Koch: Just so you know, I reposted the story to fix the factual errors that were given to me. The stats are up to date as of Thursday, so I took it down to fix that, but it is back up online.

First of all, why was the original post deleted?

What kind of blogging is this that you delete some posts because someone was unhappy about it? Not even the worst journalists do this…

To our friend Kerry, there is no such word as ‘misworded’.

At least not an English one, I don’t know what language Americans speak.

Kerem let’s not make this personal.

I appreciate your reference to wikipedia, but as you also know wikipedia is written by just about anyone, for those who know there was even the word ‘becirovism’ in wikipedia for some time…

According to the 2 most comprehensive English language dictionaries, Oxford and Cambridge, there is no such word…

Then who’s to say if any word exists or not? Any type of source which has given any info about something might be in conflict with some other reference..

I guess my criteria in this case would be taking each source’s scientific background into consideration.

One, wikipedia, is an open source wikipedia and the other ones are academic work of hundreds of years…

    Oxford English Dictionary, misworded, a.

    Expressed or worded incorrectly.

1836 J. BAILLIE Match III. iii. 472 A certain misworded testament, the defects of which, by the management of a clever attorney, might be turned to thine own advantage. 1883 Advance (Chicago) 16 Aug., A number of mis-worded telegrams. 1991 Re: Lynx’s Future in rec.games.video (Usenet newsgroup) 19 Sept., Quartermann’s ‘makes the old model obsolete’ phrase was just a misworded compliment to the new machine.

Don’t tell us how to speak our own language, and get an updated version of your Oxford english dictionary. Fool.

Well, I asked Kerem and I ask you ‘Go UWO’ (at least identify yourself) to do the same.

You obviously found the word in the Oxford American English Dictionary.

Which still doesn’t constitute a word in real English…

kerem, you are an idiot. to think that you know one word from another is ridiculous. unless and only unless you are an english professor at a university in the united states and was born and raised in the united states can you even think about saying which word is which and which word is correct or not.
