Monday's cigarettes

January 21, 2008
  • The French newspaper l’Equipe reported about a "shoe war" about Nicolas Batum. Nike was apparently furious about the French prospect to have worn Adidas sneakers in the second half of the French All-Star game after having played the first twenty minutes with Nike sneakers
  • We talked already about some big men on the move. Nikola Pekovic is closer than ever to Panathinaikos at the moment and it looks like he will join them this summer. Before, Nikola Prkacin is a name on the list to join the Greens to fill the temporary hole in the middle.
  • Lance Allred seems to be the first option for Zalgiris right now.
  • For all the fans of Partizan Belgrade, here is a nice video of the historical moments of the Serbian powerhouse.
  • Not so good weekend for Mario Kasun. He was transported to the hospital after some breathing problems during the ACB game this weekend. He luckily was released quickly.
  • What a game by Rudy Fernandez this weekend. Rudy finished the game versus Vive Menorca with 35pts and 42rkg points. The most amazing thing about it is that Rudy was at -1rkg and only 2pts after 17 minutes.
  • Hospitalet 2008 is history. Here are the reports of Luis Fernandez for Draftexpress and for acb.com
  • What I did not mention during my report about the All-Star game in Germany was the very important Mascot Skills Challenge. In a basketball game between the different mascots of the German league, no winner has been found as the game ended 0-0. But it was probably the funniest minutes I had during the whole day.

Žalgiris has other options too, but they aren’t really satisfied with the players on the market right now…
