About two hours ago, CBS Sports reported that a deal had been reached between the NBA Players Association and owners, with the 2011-12 season to begin with a tripleheader on Christmas Day.
Ran the reportage, in part: “After 16 hours of negotiations Friday, the two sides reached a handshake agreement a little after 3 a.m. ET in New York. Both sides must still get vote approval from owners and players to finalize the agreement, as well as negotiate a series of smaller issues like a drug testing policy.
“‘We’re optimistic that the [agreement] will hold and we’ll have ourselves an NBA season,’ NBA commissioner David Stern said at a joint brief news conference held in New York with Players Association executive director Billy Hunter and president Derek Fisher.”
Ah well, BallinEurope supposes that it’ll be nice to see the big league tip off again (not to mention *finally* getting some questions answered vis-à-vis Enes Kanter and Ricky Rubio), BiE’ll surely always look back on the 2011 NBA infusion into Europe with fondness.
