(Other) Monday transactions: Finley to Milano, youngster Lesic with Partizan

August 10, 2009

Two signings of note not involving Linas Kleiza also went down on Monday, with US point guard Morris Finley moving from Montepaschi Siena to AJ Milano while 21-year-old Sava Lesic made the leap from the Serbian second division in signing with Partizan Belgrade on a four-year deal.

(Euroleague.net) – Armani Jeans Milano announced on Monday the addition of point guard Morris Finley (180 cm, 27 years old) for the next two seasons. Finley switches sides from Montepaschi Siena, where last year he won the Italian League title. He averaged 4.5 points and 1.0 assists in 14 Euroleague games with Siena. Before that, Finley played with Italian side Solsonica Rieti, where he was the No. 2 scorer in the Italian League with 20.3 points per game. Finley has been playing professionally in Europe since he left the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2004. Finley debuted at KK Mornar Bar in Serbia-Montenegro and then spent two seasons with Liege Basket in Belgium before swithing to Italy.

KK Partizan Belgrade announced the addition of young power forward Sava Lesic (21, 204). Lesic arrives from KK Superfund Basket Plus, a Serbian second division team focused on developing young talents for the next level. Last season, Lesic averaged 16.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 25 games. Growing up as a player, Lesic started with KK Pozarevac and soon moved to Partizan. He soon joined Superfund, however, to develop as a player and made the step to the senior team of this club, where he played last season. Lesic has signed a four-year deal with the Serbian champions.
