Pre-Olympic Tournament: Germany already practicing

May 21, 2008

With all the main players still in Playoff action, the German National Team has already started its preparation phase for the upcoming Pre-Olympic Tournament. In order to qualify for the Beijing games, head coach Dirk Bauermann who has go for the impossible mission of coming back from a 0-2 playoff deficit has asked his former player and current TV announcer Dennis Wucherer to go through the basics of basketball with the guys that have to fill the bench in Athens.

We got exclusive footage of the first practice unit that Wucherer held this morning in the so-called 17th Bundesland. The location of Mallorca has been chosen deliberately in order that the players can adjust to the hot temperatures of Athens and Beijing. As you can see in the clip below, the people that think that Germany is a One-Man show of Dirk Nowitzki may not be that wrong. Well at least, the “Nationalmannschaft” is prepared the case where Dirk would imitate his NBA friends and say “Nein danke” and stay away this summer.

Denis Wucherer is working with the German FOOTBALL National Team – NOT the German Basketball National Team as a group building exercise. The basketball guys don’t meet until June 21. Sorry.
