Block of the night: Guilherme Giovannoni hears the Thunder against Spain

August 7, 2012

Who else would perpetrate the rejection of last night’s Olympic basketball slate but Mr. I-Blocka himself? Below the break, check out Gilherme Giovannoni’s shot barely leaving his hands before Serge Ibaka’s hearty swat triggers a Spain fast break in last night’s loss to Team Brazil.

Look at Ibaka’s timing. He was in the air, waiting, before Giovanoni even jumped.

Does anyone know the reason that Ibaka’s playing time has been going down lately? I didn’t think his play was so poor, but then again I have not watched all of Spain’s games so far.
